Am almost all caught up on things.  Just have to finish grading a few more papers and I'm good to go.

Mrs Greene out, things can be hectic

With Mrs Greene out due to surgery, things seem to be getting a bit hectic. Environmental is freaking out about their sites.  I put some links on the website so that should help them. Going to be working like crazy to get things leveled out over the next week or so until Mrs Greene is back.

New School Year

Its been an amazing summer but its at the end.
School starts on Tuesday. I am hoping for  a good school year.

Been a Good Year

haven't updated in a while. finals start friday so evryone is rushing to get things done.
overall its been a good year.

i am going to miss my 'desk' on top of the acid cabinet.

Squid and grading cramps

If grading cramp exists then I think I got it yesterday.

I was grading science and after the 30th test I swear my hand felt like it was going to fall off. 

And people always think that teachers have it easy. Just goes to show, that they don't. 

Today the 8th grade started squid dissection, now the lab smells strongly of formaldehyde. 

Macbook in for repair , what a suprise

my macbook is in store for repairs. This makes things harder for work, hopefully I will get it back today or tomorrow.

baby blanket and a Folder

I started knitting a baby blanket for Mrs Shutters. Hopefully I can get it done or mostly done by mid/ late May.

I now got a folder in Mrs Greenes room with my stuff. (aka, things I am grading and working on)

Error

Am trying to get on the Moodle I set up last year
not sure why it's not working.

Seems like a webserver error
not sure what to do about it, hopefully this will get resolved by monday.

last night I spent 2 hours making pie to celebrate.

Note:

It has come to my attention by someone (Jack, and Rivka) that no one reads this blog.
While I actually have to agree with that, I still will blog.
It is a good way to keep track or what I did on what days.

Wednesday - fixed fan, and helped in comp lit

Today I fixed Mrs Hechts desktop computer. (dinosaur!!!  Win, XP, 04)  she was telling me how the fan in it never would stop and was making a 'wrrrr' noise.
So I opened the computer up and low and behold, DUST!! (not really a surprise, most of it was chalk dust from the old building)
The fan was not working well because of all the dust blocking it. Now the computer is running fast(er)


Also, I helped out with the Comp Lit Class. It is hard to get 5th graders to listen.

Building Pdf

right now I am working on building pdf files.
Mrs Greene gives out packets that combine different worksheets together,
to make them able to download on her website I first must make them all into one pdf file per chapter.

The Prettiest Mold

Ive seen the awsmest mold under the microscope in the lab.

Slime mold sparkles!!!!! (smells like c*rap but its so pretty. No joke)

and fuzzy mold in jar looked like it had hair and you could see the spores

Files

Mrs Greene said she is going to order the worksheet c-d's for next year,
I think over the summer I may upload them to my computer so when I need to put them online, it will be faster and easier.

Lower School

I did some more work for Mrs Shean (the first grade teacher) I put a ethernet cable in the same brakets that i put in for the projector cable, 

A few of the other lower school teachers have asked me to do the same for their classroom. 

JST: Overall acomplishment

I feel like this year's JST was very successful and I learned a lot.
I learned how hard it can be to integrate technology into a classroom, and get students involved. (Thank you Sana, Amelia and Leanne, for being so active, and willing to participate) 


This project taught me that no matter how much planning you put into a project, there will always be something that needs to be fixed or changed.

I also got to do work for various teachers, and learned how hard it is to make students understand concepts. I helped out with grading, organizing, and computer repairs.

Day Twelve: Post 2

I did some manual labor for Mrs Shean (the first grade teacher) 

I installed a projector cable for her, and hammered it to the wall so its out of the way and covered by pictures.


Tomorrow I am going to be investigated and interrogated

RIght now I am working on fixing Mrs Hechts Computer. 

So far i have fixed several problems. I deleted the old cache files and firefox seems to be working again. 

I also am installing Microsoft Word On the computer. 

Im so sad that JST  is almost over, I have gotten so much done for various teachers.

have received supper secret instructions. Cant say much more, not until Thursday afternoon......

I had some down time today so I did a bit of pottery with the kids in Mrs Hechts JST.

Once again I redid the layout for Mrs Balmes.

3rd time's a charm. Right??

We decided that it was better to just create a layout instead of using a base one.



It turned out really good.
I like how things looked taked to it.

I started Mrs Greene website

I did my best to recover what was on her old website, and was able to recover links from her classes.
I am going to talk with Mrs Balmes around 10:30/11:00

Today I did a bit more filing for Mrs Greene.
I also have been working on rearranging the home page for Ms Balmes's site 
I added a photo album page for her site.

Added some links to Ms Balmes's website.
I think adding the links helped make the site look less bare.

Started off the day doing filing work, purging files for mrs Greene. I have gone through a few boxes and got rid of a lot of old files.
I think I am going to start a website for Mrs Greene so she can post worksheets online.

Day Seven: Post 2

Have been doing lots of teacher work lately. I spent 2 hours today helping Mrs Greene with cleaning and grading. Its like my project has morphed into "middle school teacher helper" =)

Tomorrow I will add a link on Ms Balmes home page to the new page she created,

Today i explained how to update the website to Ms Balmes.
I added some things to the website.
I also did monkey work for Mrs Greene in the lab

Started off the day being recruited by Mr Novak for open house.

I have finished the basics for Ms Balmes's website and am glad that I reworked the layout. The new layout looks really good and I think that the students will agree.
Now I need to make a power point for Mrs Balmes.
But as of now I still have a lot if time to get it done.

I have the basic layout of Mrs Balmes's website done.

The home page has 3 icons that each link to different pages. Each linked page then has its own set of icons that link to sub pages. 

The pages have a description from the curriculum guide.

I am going to need to talk with Mrs Balmes when she is free, to find out what things I should place on the site.

I am going to start creating a powerpoint for google sites although it is not going to be top priority.

Day Four: Post 3

I showed the websites for Mrs Borges to the 6th grade today after lunch. They really liked how not only can you comment and vote, but also see what % of people agreed with you.

I finished presenting about 15 min ago, and already some students have voted and commented on the site. =)

I started Mrs Balmes's website. I am using ipad style apps for her site to make it modern.

Started off the day with giving the presentation about the site to the 8th graders.
They seemed interested, I hope they will all use it.

This afternoon I am going to show the 6th graders the site and powerpoint.

I talked with Mrs Balmes today about what she wants on her site. I am going to use google.sites for the website.

Today was a bit of a strange day. I finished the work on Mrs Borges's site and Mrs Balmes was not ready to start hers yet.
So today I did monkey work for teachers.
I did some computer work for Mrs Hecht, and Mrs Shutters

Mrs Borges'  site is up and running. (But very empty) .

It helped to have done the registration for the site before JST, because otherwise I would of have had to wait for registration to be complete before I could start.



Also I have done some rearranging of my schedule due to some new information. Instead to working on both sites at once, I am going to finish one and then start on the second one.

Just seeing what i can do with Collaborize Classroom

Day One: Post 1

I have just started creating accounts for the students in 8th grade, and have come across a small problem.
At first I was going to use the Roycemore Log in names as their usernames but 1/5 of them have log in names under 6 letters.
I am fixing this problem by making their login names use this format. First name+ first letter of last name+ Griffin 
example.

Day One: My Project

Today is the first day of JST and I am excited to see how this year's JST will go.

My project this year is making a online English/lit discussion site for Mrs Borges and a website for Mrs Balmes.
